Four player profiles
The hour player
A hundred stakes, an hour, and a preference for something happening on most spins. Wants the balance to move gently and the session to end near where it started. Mechanics that fit: expanding wilds with respins, small-grid cluster pays, multiplier ladders. Games: Starburst, Moon Princess, Gonzo's Quest.
The bonus hunter
Two to three hundred stakes and patience for a quiet base game, in exchange for a bonus round that is the point of the session. Mechanics: hold and win, sticky wild free spins on the medium shelf, orb-multiplier cascades. Games: Coin Strike, 3 Pyramids of Gold, The Dog House, Gates of Olympus.
The ceiling chaser
Five hundred stakes or more, and a session judged by one outcome. Mechanics: unlimited-multiplier Megaways, moving-multiplier clusters, sticky wilds with upgrades. Games: Bonanza, Jammin' Jars 2, Dead or Alive 2.
The buyer
A balance sized in buys rather than spins, and no interest in the base game. Mechanic: feature buy, at whatever price the round commands. Games: Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza at 100x, Extra Chilli's Feature Drop from 50x, San Quentin's ladder. Thirty buys is the floor Mechanics Casino Online suggests.
The volatility ladder
Every mechanic in the lobby sits on a ladder from gentle to steep, and the ladder is what the profiles above are reading. Volatility is not how much a game pays over time, which is RTP, but how the payments are distributed: many small ones or few large ones.
Rung | Mechanics | Reference games | Stakes needed | Profile |
1, gentle | Expanding wild respins, paylines with frequent small wins | Starburst | 100 | Hour player |
2 | Small-grid cluster pays, multiplier ladders | Moon Princess, Gonzo's Quest, Esqueleto Explosivo | 100 | Hour player |
3 | Expanding-symbol Megaways, Infinity Reels | Book Of Cats Megaways, El Dorado Infinity Reels | 150 to 200 | Hour player, bonus hunter |
4 | Hold and win, meter clusters | Coin Strike, 3 Pyramids of Gold, Reactoonz | 200 to 300 | Bonus hunter |
5 | Multiplier sticky wilds, orb cascades, stepped Megaways | The Dog House, Gates of Olympus, The Dog House Megaways | 200 to 300 | Bonus hunter |
6 | Upgrading sticky wilds, moving-multiplier clusters | Dead or Alive 2, Jammin' Jars | 300 to 500 | Ceiling chaser |
7, steep | Unlimited-multiplier Megaways, top-tier buys | Bonanza, Jammin' Jars 2, San Quentin top buy | 500 or more | Ceiling chaser, buyer |
Progressive jackpots sit outside the ladder: their base games are on rung two or three and their pools are on a rung of their own. Mechanics Casino Online lists them by pool type with the base-game rung beside each.
The decision table
Three inputs, one output. Find the row that matches and the mechanic is in the last column.

Mini-explainers
Sticky wilds
A wild that stays for the rest of the feature. Plain in Dead or Alive 2, where a second wild on the same spot upgrades it; badged with 2x or 3x in The Dog House. Steep, because the return sits in the free spins.
Expanding wilds
A wild that fills its reel for one spin or respin. Starburst holds it for up to three respins. Gentle, because it pays often and modestly.
Megaways
Six reels of two to seven symbols each, up to 117,649 ways. Gentle with an expanding symbol, steep with an unlimited cascade multiplier. The bonus rule, not the engine, sets the rung.
Cluster pays
Touching blocks of five or more on a grid. Gentle with three-symbol clusters on a small grid, steep with moving multiplier wilds on a large one.
Cascades
Winning symbols removed and replaced, reels checked again. Ladders are gentle, orbs are middling, unlimited counters are steep.
Hold and win
Six coins lock, three respins, reset on each new coin, tiers from Mini to Grand. Middling: a quiet base game and a bonus that arrives within a normal session.
Feature buy
A fixed price to start the bonus now. Whatever rung the round is on, buying it compresses the variance into one tap.
Progressive jackpot
A pool fed by a share of every bet. The base game is gentle; the pool is rare. Network pools grow largest, local pools pay most often.
Infinity Reels
Three reels that grow by one after every win, with an 888x bonus at twelve added. Middling, with a frequent small win and a rare long run.
A worked choice
A player arrives at Mechanics Casino Online with a balance worth 250 stakes, an evening to spend, and no interest in a session that ends in ten minutes. The table says hold and win or multiplier sticky wilds. Coin Strike in demo triggers its round twice in a hundred spins; The Dog House does not trigger at all. The player picks Coin Strike, sets a deposit limit at the balance, and plays. That is the whole process, and it took a quarter of an hour of demo. A different player with 600 stakes and a taste for one big outcome skips to Bonanza and sets the same limit. Neither needed to know a theme.
Session length and the ladder
The second question, how long a session should last, is the one players skip, and it moves the answer as much as the balance does. A gentle rung pays often and slowly; a hundred stakes of Starburst lasts an evening at one stake. A steep rung is quiet for long stretches and then decided in a minute; five hundred stakes of Bonanza can be over in half an hour or last all night, and there is no telling which in advance. A player who wants a session of known length belongs on the lower rungs whatever the balance. A player who wants the evening to hinge on one round belongs higher. Mechanics Casino Online prints a typical session length in spins beside the stake floor on every game page, taken from demo logs, so the two numbers are read together.
Changing rung mid-session
A session that starts on rung four and runs well may tempt a move up; one that runs badly may tempt a move down. The first is the more dangerous. Moving from Coin Strike to Bonanza with a balance that has grown to 350 stakes puts it below Bonanza's floor, and the steep rung takes it back faster than the gentle one built it. Moving down is safe by the same arithmetic: a balance that has shrunk to 120 stakes is still above Starburst's floor. The rule at Mechanics Casino Online is simple: move down freely, move up only when the balance clears the new rung's floor at the current stake, and never move up by raising the stake.
Glossary
- RTP. Return to player: the long-run share of stakes paid back, as a percentage. Fixed by the studio and the version the casino runs.
- Volatility. How the return is spread: many small wins or few large ones. Not the same as RTP.
- Stake floor. The balance, in stakes, that gives a fair session on a mechanic. Printed on every game page.
- Retrigger. Winning more spins inside a free spin round.
- Wagering. How many times a bonus must be staked before withdrawal.
- Stake cap. The most a single spin may stake while a bonus is active.
- Seed. The amount a progressive pool restarts at after a win.
Bonuses and wagering
Every promotion at Mechanics Casino Online shows its wagering requirement, game weighting and stake cap while the bonus is active, and states which mechanics are excluded. Steep-rung games can breach a stake cap in one round, and a stake above the cap voids the bonus. Free spin awards are tied to a named game at a fixed stake. Cashback, where offered, is calculated on net losses over the stated period.

Phone play and safer play
The lobby runs in a phone browser without an app, and the three-question filter is the first screen on the phone as well. Stake controls sit behind a menu icon; confirm the stake before the first spin. Deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion are in account settings, with lower limits taking effect at once. Mechanics Casino Online is for adults of legal gambling age; independent help is available from Gamblers Anonymous (https://www.gamblersanonymous.org).
Support
The help centre at Mechanics Casino Online is arranged by profile and by mechanic, so a bonus hunter's questions about hold and win sit together. Verification, withdrawals, limits and bonus terms have their own pages. The support team is reached by chat or contact form from the account menu; account matters are handled only with the verified holder.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which profile I am?
Count the stakes in your balance and decide whether you want wins often or large. The decision table does the rest.
Is a steep mechanic a worse bet?
No. RTP is the same across the ladder for games with the same label. The rung is about how the return is spread, not how much of it there is.
Can I change profile?
Any time. The profile is a filter, not a restriction; every game is open to every player.
Which mechanic has the highest RTP?
RTP is set by the studio, not the mechanic. The in-game panel shows the version running at Mechanics Casino Online.
Can I run the worked choice in demo?
Yes. Every game opens in demo without an account.
What currency does Mechanics Casino Online use?
EUR for accounts, deposits and withdrawals.
Where do progressive jackpots sit on the ladder?
Their base games sit on rung two or three; the pool is listed separately by type.
Answer the three questions, open the game in the last column in demo, and set a deposit limit before you switch to real play. Mechanics Casino Online places every new release on the ladder on the day it arrives.
